Urodynamics

Urodynamics comprises a set of examinations aimed at evaluating the efficiency of the bladder, sphincters, and urethra in storing and expelling urine. These assessments are instrumental in diagnosing conditions that may result in complications such as urinary incontinence, obstructions, or challenges in voiding. They gauge a range of factors including bladder pressure, urine flow rate, as well as the nerve and muscle functionality of the bladder.

Urodynamic evaluations encompass the following tests:

• Cystometry: Evaluates the bladder pressure during filling.
• Electromyography (EMG): Assesses the pelvic floor muscles' activity.
• Uroflowmetry: Measures the urine flow rate.
• Pressure Flow Study: Simultaneously measures bladder pressure and urine flow during urination.

These tests are particularly useful for finding the cause of urinary incontinence, frequent urination, sudden urges to urinate, and other related symptoms.
